“When survival is threatened by seemingly insurmountable problems and individual life form or species will either die or become extinct or rise above the limitations of its condition through an evolutionary leap … the dysfunction of the egoic human mind, recognised already 2,500 years ago by ancient wisdom teachers, now threatens the survival of the planet..” – excerpt from A New Earth, Eckhart Tolle

The term Transpersonal means beyond (trans) the personal.  Transpersonal states of consciousness are beyond the personal identity.  Time and space are linear, it is outside of this that transpersonal experiences occur.  Examples could be time distortion, peak experiences in nature, feeling at one with all, an out of body or near-death experience, entity encounters, a deep intuition or premonition.  It is a form of spiritual psychology where we transcend the ego to experience and tap into a greater wisdom (consciousness) within and around us.

Carl Jung first conied the term transpersonal (uberpersonlich) when he used the phrase transpersonal unconscious as a reference to his work on the ‘collective unconscious’.   Stanislav “Stan” Grof is a Czech psychiatrist who, with his late wife Christina, created Holotropic Breathwork. Grof was one of the founders of the field of transpersonal psychology and a researcher into the use of non-ordinary states of consciousness for the purposes of exploring, healing, and obtaining growth and insights into the human psyche.

As a Transpersonal Therapist you track a client’s process but do not lead it.  Central to this work is empowerment of the individual as they hold all the wisdom, healing and answers within.

Safe Haven Transpersonal Centre offer Transpersonal one to one sessions. Holotropic Breathwork workshops are also available.

“If you want to awaken all of humanity then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self transformation” – Lao Tzu
